Admissions Squared

What is Admissions Squared?

Virginia Tech's Admissions Squared (A²) is part of the Tech Talent Investment Program. It is an opportunity to, upon completion of your Virginia Tech bachelor's degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher and completing prerequisite courses , immediately start the master's degree program and finish within 2-3 semesters after graduation. *You will also be eligible for Tech Talent Scholarships.

Admissions Squared (A²) General Information

The following listed requirements are specific to those students accepted and enrolled into the Admissions Squared program.

In recognition of their outstanding academic achievements, various first-year and transfer undergraduate applicants have been extended admission offers to both Virginia Tech's undergraduate program and its Masters of Engineering program. 

Students in the A² program will be required to meet graduate admissions requirements and complete pre-requisite courses with a B or better to proceed onto the MENG program. Please see below for more details.

Meng CSA & CPE Prerequisites & Application requirements

General Requirements:

  • Statement of purpose
  • A resume
  • 1 letter of recommendation for CS
  • 2 letters of recommendations for CPE
  • No GRE required

Regular Track Requirements

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Accelerated Track Requirements

Prerequisistes

  • Computer Science - programming and data structures (CS 1114 & CS 2114 with a B or better)

OR

  • Computer Engineering - math and electrical engineering proficiency (multivariable calculus preferred MTH 1225, MTH 1226, and ECE 1004 with a B or better)

Timeline

Freshman and Sophomore Years

  • Work with Academic Advisors and maintain a 3.0 minimum GPA (3.3 minimum GPA for Accelerated)

Junior Year

  • Continue working with Academic Advisors 
  • Accelerated Track: fill out graduate school application and potentially double count up to 12 credits in Senior Year (only 6 credits can be 4000 level)

Senior Year

After Graduation

  • Finish your Masters in 2-3 semesters!

Scholarships

For Virginia Tech graduates in the Master of Engineering Program

Virginia-resident students who are not on an assistantship, are enrolled full-time (9 credit hours in the fall or spring or 6 credit hours in the summer) as graduate students at either the Blacksburg or Northern Virginia campus in an accelerated 4+1 masters program in an eligible graduate degree, will receive $5,000 per term (summer, fall, and spring only) for up to three terms.
