Scholarships

Fall 2023 scholarship applications will open on February 1, 2023. Students applying for first time admission to Virginia Tech who wish to apply for scholarships first need to complete the admissions application and create log-in credentials.  

Virginia Tech Talent Graduate Scholarships

For Virginia Tech Graduates in the Master of Engineering Program

The Virginia Tech Talent Graduate Scholarship supports eligible Virginia-resident students who have completed their undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech who are pursuing a Master of Engineering in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Virginia-resident students who are enrolled full-time (9 credit hours in the fall or spring or 6 credit hours in the summer) as a regular graduate student at either the Blacksburg or Northern Virginia campus in an eligible graduate degree, not on an assistantship, and meet other applicable criteria for this program will receive $5000 toward tuition and fees per term (fall, and spring, summer only) for up to three terms.

Students will need to submit their Graduate School admission application before they can apply for this scholarship.

For Partner University Graduates in the Master of Engineering Program

The Virginia Tech Talent Graduate Scholarship supports eligible Virginia-resident students who have completed their undergraduate degree from one of our partner universities and are pursuing an Accelerated Masters Undergraduate/Graduate Master of Engineering degree in either Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Current Partner Universities include: Christopher Newport University, Hollins University, James Madison University, Radford University, Roanoke College, Virginia Military Institute, Virginia State University, and University of Mary Washington.

Virginia-resident students who are enrolled full-time their first semester at Virginia Tech (9 credit hours in the fall or spring or 6 credit hours in the summer) as a regular graduate student at either the Blacksburg or Northern Virginia campus in an eligible accelerated 4+1 master’s program will receive a one-time award of $3,000 toward tuition and fees their first term of enrollment.

Students will need to submit their Graduate School admission application before they can apply for this scholarship.

Privately Funded Scholarships

Boeing Graduate Scholars

The Boeing Graduate Scholars program provides various levels of scholarships including up to full tuition and fees at the graduate in-state rate to support high achieving U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are traditionally underrepresented in technology in either the Master of Engineering in Computer Science or Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering programs. Students must be enrolled at the Northern Virginia Campus. Preference will be given to underrepresented students, Virginia residents, those with demonstrated financial need, and veteran/military connected students. Full-time students can receive funding for a total of up to three terms and half-time students up to five. This award may be combined with other scholarships but will be cancelled if the student receives a departmental assistantship. Students will need to submit their Graduate School admission application before they can apply for this scholarship.

Boeing Tech Talent Access Program Scholarship

The Boeing Tech Talent Access Program Scholarship provides up to full tuition and fees (at the undergraduate in state rate) to support Master of Engineering in Computer Science or Computer Engineering applicants who need undergraduate prerequisites courses to be eligible for admission. Preference will be given to underrepresented students, Virginia residents, those with demonstrated financial need, and veteran/military connect students. Students will need to submit the appropriate admission application before they can apply for this scholarship. Contact techtalent@vt.edu for more information.

 


Aid

 Masters and PhD graduate students may receive funding from a variety of sources to offset the cost of their graduate studies. Depending on your program and circumstance, students should explore their options and consult with the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid at finaid@vt.edu or 540-231-5179 as needed.
