Key Resources for In-State Prospective Students

What is Virginia Tech Advantage?

Virginia Tech Advantage is the university’s commitment to affordability and access to help reduce financial barriers and support success during and after college. The initiative provides scholarships and other resources for in-state prospective students (Virginia residents) with financial need so that they can participate in the full educational experience, including internships, research, and other learning opportunities. The initiative also provides emergency funds and support for basic needs for all students, based on demonstrated financial need.

Virginia Tech Advantage continues to expand. When we launched the initiative, one goal was to double the size of the Presidential Scholarship Initiative (PSI), which had served 400-plus students. PSI reached more than 550 students in 2024-25 and more than 700 in 2025-26, and we anticipate reaching the goal in 2026-27.
