Support for career preparation
Preparing you for your career is our job! Virginia Tech offers a variety of ways to gain experience while you’re here, from internships and job-shadowing to service and volunteering.
Paid internships help students gain real-world experiences in their chosen fields, and we know that internships help our graduates land their first jobs. Visit the Career and Professional Development website for more information.
Through the Ut Prosim Internship Support Fund, students can receive up to $5,000 to support unpaid and underpaid internships.
Advisors are also ready to help guide you in your educational journey. Depending on their specific scholarships, Virginia Tech Advantage students will have regular access to academic advisers and mentors through the Scholar Support program.
You can also connect with Career and Professional Development to visit with a career advisor. They’re ready to help all students launch their careers with coaching on résumés and cover letters, advice on job searches and interview preparation, tips and networking and negotiating an offer, and more.
