Project Coordinator, LICENSE + LAUNCH

As Project Coordinator in the office of Innovations and Partnerships, Teresa McCoy provides support to the LICENSE + LAUNCH Centers to activate start-up formation by working with faculty and graduate students  to shape ideas and discoveries and to identify key resources for start-up opportunities. Prior to joining the LINK + LICENSE + LAUNCH team she served as Program Coordinator for the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs working with undergraduate students to help turn their ideas into action.  Teresa has served the university in several roles including, Assistant Director for Event Services, Student Engagement and Campus Life.  She has 20 + years in the hospitality industry including the position of opening General Manager for the AmeriSuites in Blacksburg, now the Holiday Inn Express. Teresa has extensive experience in project and program management, event planning, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and managing and leading hotel teams. 

Teresa earned an A.S. in marketing from New River Community College. She obtained her first hospitality job as Sales and Catering Manager at Mountain Lake Resort during the filming of Dirty Dancing.  Teresa is passionate about customer service, providing great experiences and serving others.
