Participating in commencement

Join us online May 15 at 6:15 p.m. ET

Visit vt.edu/commencement to join online commencement. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, but there will be pre-ceremony fun with videos from alumni and families, photos from graduates, and more for those who join early!

What to expect

Nothing can take the place of a traditional commencement ceremony, but the online ceremony will honor the hard work of the Class of 2020 with special guests, performances, and ways to interact with other viewers. 

You will also be able to hear messages from your colleges' deans and listen to the names of Class of 2020 graduates being read.

The ceremony's videos will not be live, but there will be live features including a chat and a social media wall from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET.  Make sure to tag your Instagram and Twitter videos and photos with #HokieGrad to show how you're celebrating and use the chat feature on the website to say hello to your graduate and fellow Hokies!
