Lavery Hall

430 Old Turner St.
Lavery Hall
Lavery Hall

Lavery Hall, the Academic and Student Affairs Building that opened in fall 2012, includes two floors of dining in a facility called Turner Place, one floor of classrooms, and space for the Services for Students with Disabilities office.

The modern facility behind McBryde Hall on Old Turner Street offers a convenient dining location on the academic side of campus for students traveling between classes, faculty and staff members, and students commuting from off campus.

The new Dining Services facility houses eight restaurants, including a wide variety of quick breakfast and lunch options. It features national brand franchises Jamba Juice, Qdoba, and Bruegger’s Bagels, and its menus emphasize convenient, healthy choices.

In addition to the franchises, Turner Place at Lavery Hall houses original concepts created by Dining Services. These venues include an Italian-inspired pizza and pasta restaurant; an upscale chophouse with a unique wood-burning grill; a Japanese-style steakhouse with four teppanyaki grills; a large grab-and-go venue offering prepackaged sandwiches and salads; an espresso bar; a gelato bar; and a crepe station.

The venue will seat 833 indoors and 244 at patio seating, including a large dining room for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. The cadets will use the dining room to support leadership training programs during weekday dinner meals.

The Services for Students with Disabilities office on the third floor of Lavery Hall provides accommodations that allow students with disabilities access to academic programs. Services include testing accommodations, note-taking, deaf and hard-of-hearing assistance, and other accommodations. Students must identify themselves to the office to be eligible to receive services.

In addition to the dining facilities and the Services for Students with Disabilities office, the new building holds six general assignment classrooms. Course offerings will vary by semester.
