The Y Wind & Solar project
Between March and September 2010, a team of volunteers from Virginia Tech, the YMCA at Virginia Tech, and the community at large worked together to install and dedicate the 28-foot vertical axis wind turbine, a smaller turbine, plus a 1,050-watt solar panel array at the YMCA building in Blacksburg, Va.
