Condolences, April 17, 2007
My most profound sympathy to the families of those that were lost in yesterday’s shooting. My husband grew up in Salem, VA and has been a Hokie fan his entire life. When we were married we lived in Blacksburg & at the time I worked on camppus at the bookstore for over a year. Since then we’ve moved back to my hometown of Wellsburg, WV (near Pittsburgh). And, when we heard news of the shootings both me & my husband cried. We both tuned in to watch the 2pm memorial on tv and again.. cried. Such sad news, and a horrible tradegy. And, to think it’d happen in a place like Blacksburg. The people, the community, the pride is so wonderful and profound there. It’s unthinkable.
You are all in my prayers. Students, Staff, Alumni, parents, and visitors to the campus. My heart goes out to you all.
God Bless.

I know this is short, but words cannot express the sorrow for those killed and their family members. My heart goes out to those who lost their children yesterday.
I myself am having a somewhat sobering affect, having graduated last fall. I’ve had a couple of classes in Norris and most of my others were just two buildings away. Again, I am sorry for the parents’ losses and thankful that it wasn’t higher than it could have been.

With my deepest sympathy I send to Families, Friends, and everyone at Virginia Tech my sincere condolences. I cannot begin to imagine what all of you are going through, but as the rest of the world is doing, I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I watched the convocation today and as sad as it was, you reminded the world of your grace and dignity, showing that you are united as HOAKIES and reminding us all of how precious life is and that one should never take it for granted. May God Bless you all and be with you in your journey ahead.

We just watched coverage of this story on CNN. We had a similar incident happen in Montreal at Dawson Colege, and saw the spirit of the student there. We saw a similar spirit at Virgini Tech today, and it was encouraging to see. Go Hookies, you will survive and prosper. You ARE Virginia Tech. Our prayers are with you all. Peace be with you all.

I would just like to extend my deepest condolences to everyone at Virginia Tech. As a college student myself, this really hit close to home and I cannot imagine if something like this would have happened at Oklahoma State University. I will continue to keep everyone from Virginia Tech in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that you all receive some sort of justice for this incident. I admire all of your spirit and there is no doubt in my mind that Virginia Tech will continue to prevail.

As a Virginia native with nearly half of my family (one of which is joining Tech’s faculty next semester) being Tech alumni, this tradegy has hit me hard. I cannot express the grief that I feel as a Virginian, as a college student, as an American. That anyone could do something like this seems unthinkable. We think that we are so safe in college…
God bless.

To the Students, Faculty, Staff, and Families of Virginia Tech:
Our family has all of you in our thoughts and prayers at this incredibly difficult time. Although we are grieving for those we have never met - for the slain and wounded students and faculty and for their families and friends - we feel your loss. If we could take all of you in our arms and comfort you, we would. There are many like us around the world, strangers united in sorrow for the tragedy you are enduring. We know we cannot remove your pain, but please accept our gifts of love and sincere sympathy.

It is with the deepest regret that I need to even write on this website. I am a 2005 graduate of Virginia Tech and when I saw the news I could not believe it. Blacksburg was the safest place I gad ever been and to believe that something like this could happen there is unimaginable. My thoughts and prayers are with all the faculty, staff, students, and families that are there. I know that it will be a long and hard process of healing.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to express my condolences. As a freshman in college, this event has impacted me in ways I never thought I would experience. I can then only imagine the sort of pain the Virginia Tech community is feeling at this moment. No one is deserving of such actions nor should anyone have to experience this in a lifetime. While grieving is hard, I want to let all students, faculty, staff and parents of VT that the world is grieving with them. May all deceased victims rest in peace and their spirit live on.
