Directions and parking information

To reach campus from Interstate 81 (southbound and northbound)

  1. Take Exit 118 to reach the exit ramps for all three of the exits at this location. There is only one exit ramp serving the exits; missing the ramp means a trip north to Exit 128 or south to Exit 114 to turn around.
  2. Take Exit 118B onto U.S. 460 West. This exit connects directly to the Christiansburg Bypass. Follow the signs for Blacksburg/Virginia Tech. The U.S. 460 bypass between Blacksburg and Christiansburg is a limited-access highway from I-81 to the campus entrance.
  3. To reach the Visitor's Center (for parking passes), continue on U.S. 460 for 8.5 miles to the Prices Fork Road exit for "Downtown." Turn right at the first traffic light on Prices Fork Road. Take an immediate right into the Visitor's Center.

From the Visitor's Center to Newman Library

  1. Continue on Price's Fork Road towards "Downtown."
  2. At the traffic circle, turn right onto N. Main Street.
  3. Continue through downtown Blacksburg and turn right onto Washington Street.
  4. Turn right onto Otey Street.
  5. The Squires Student Center parking lot is the last right before you reach College Avenue.

Directions to Newman Library at Virginia Tech

  1. From the Squires Student Center parking lot, cross the street to the plaza and take a left in front of the student center.
  2. Pass the Donaldson Brown Graduate Life Center and fountain.
  3. Newman Library will be on your right, across from the University Bookstore. The Study Café is on the first floor behind the glass wall.

Parking on campus

Weekday visitors to campus must obtain a parking pass at the Visitor and Undergraduate Admissions Center if they wish to park on campus.

A parking pass is not required to park at the center. Although passes to park on campus are not required on weekends, special parking rules prevail on days when the university is hosting home football and basketball games.

To facilitate the process of obtaining a visitor parking pass, the following information must be supplied when you enter the center: name, license plate number, and state where the vehicle is registered.

Weekday parking rules are printed on the back of the pass, and the center's staff will be happy to explain these rules and direct visitors to appropriate parking areas.

For more detailed information about parking on campus, visit the Parking and Transportation website. A printable sheet providing general guidelines and a map of parking areas is available.
