To promote Virginia Tech throughout the state, across America, and around the world, the on-campus University Bookstore & off-campus Volume Two Bookstore along with the Virginia Tech Department of Licensing and Trademarks is announcing the fifth annual "Crazy for the Hokies" event. This year’s event is the “Crazy for the Hokie Homes” Contest, open to any homeowner to decorate their home and yard with Hokie logos and colors in the wildest, most outlandish, craziest way possible. This might include a maroon front yard…“Let’s Go Hokies” in giant letters on the roof…or even a colossal Hokie Bird painted on the driveway. The possibilities are limitless for all Hokie fans to show that they are "Crazy for the Hokies” but they will have to show it for THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS!
Contest Outline
Date: September 1, 2008 to November 21, 2008. The entry form and photographs must be received by November 21, 2008.
Eligible to enter: Participants must be over the age of 21 and own the home and land they are decorating. The decorations have to up for a minimum of three days and this must be verified by a neighbor/witness.
Judging: Contestants will be judged by a panel of university officials using photographs of the home provided with the entry form. Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- The creativity and the uniqueness of the logos and colors reproduced.
- The size of the logos reproduced.
- Overall CRAZY HOKIE appearance of the home.
Prizes: The winners will be announced at halftime of the UVA football game (November 29, 2008). The prize winning entry photos will be shown on the Hokievision (Jumbotron).
